I DON'T WANT TO SAY GOODBYE

Jenny looked at her ex-boyfriend and said: "I liked you from the moment I saw you. And when you first asked me out, I was so excited. You were so nice then. Respectful. I knew that other girls were interested in you, but you never made me feel insecure."

"Jenny…"

"But you changed. And the last few months have been torture for me. Part of me wants you to go. To get you out of my life, so I can pick up the pieces and move on. I used to think I needed you, but now I think I don't. I don't need you. I'll be better off without you."

Jenny took a sip of her iced tea, and continued: "Do you remember how we first met? I was at the school library, studying for the Human Anatomy and Physiology final. I was so stressed out. You sat down next down me, smiled, and offered me a glass of lemonade. So sweet... I remember it like it was yesterday…"

"Jenny…"

"Anyway, that's all in the past now. So many memories, fading away. Now you, too, are fading away... Do you remember when we went down to Texas to visit my family? We babysat my sister's dogs. The big one got away, and we spent the whole afternoon trying to find him before my sister came home."

"Jenny, please…"

"Yes, OK. I don't want to keep you. I know you have a plane to catch. Well, I just want to say. Have fun in Philadelphia. Enjoy your new life. I hope you find happiness there."

Jenny paused a moment, then continued: "I will always have a special place for you in my heart. I hope you know that. You were my first boyfriend. I will always remember that. And even now, part of me wants you to stay. I don't want to say goodbye."

"…"

Jenny stood up and put on her coat. "Also, you owe me like 500 bucks."
