The route of last Sunday is only 12 km long, which becomes a short time with a good company.
We started the hike at about 10 am and first, we went to a trenches of the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939), which are really well conserved. After that we went to a water cave, where stalactites and stalagmites are formed.
I was lucky to be accompanied by a friend who is an biologist, so he was telling us the name of some plants and curiosities about nature. For example, I didn’t know that in some time of year, some pines raise grayish worms which fall to the ground, forming rows. This is because they are called “procesarías” (similar to the word “procesión” in Spanish: procession). I also learnt gin is distilled from a bush called juniper.
My friend knows all the sizes and shapes of mushrooms too, so he toke a good few of those to prepare a delicious food!
Now I’m looking forward to going out for a hike again!
