I've never thought about going to Turkey when I lived in Japan because I was not keen on travelling abroad. It cost fortune and I had to take a long day-off, so it was not realistic.

I met a Turkish man in my English class, who is a cook at a Turkish restaurant in Amsterdam and works hard to have his own restaurant in the future. That has made me have more interest in Turkey.

The streetscape looked like Spain or Italy. However, when I heard the Koran at a certain time, that reminded me of being in the Muslim country. Women wearing scarfs defined the difference.

Knowing different cultures broadens my mind and makes me think more about my country at the same time.
