Jul 20, 2014 00:31 Japanese honorific keigo
There are three types in Japanese honorific. They are Sonkeigo(尊敬語) and Kenjougo(謙譲語), Teineigo(丁寧語). Sonkeigo is used to the actions of object person. It presents respect for object person to respect their actions. Kenjougo is used to own actions. It present respect for object person to put own actions down. Teineigo can be used all sentences and conversations. It put 「です、ます」 at the end of words.
For example, 「召し上がる」 is Sonkeigo of 「食べる」, 「いただく」 is Kenjougo of 「食べる」and 「もらう」。 「おっしゃる」 is Sonkeigo of 「言う」, 「申す」 is Kenjougo of it. Sonkeigo and Kenjougo are so confusing for even Japanese people.Teineigo is easy so I recommend beginners of Japanese learner to use Teineigo.
