Umeboshi(梅干し) is fruits of Japanese plums which is dried in the sun after salting. It is a popular food in Japan. The taste is very sour. They are mainly used as fillings in the rice ball and in alcohol like Umssyu(梅酒). My favorite way of eating them is Ochazuke(お茶漬け). The way is to pour green tea on the rice and set Umeboshi in them. This is very delicious. Espacially when you have little appetite, the way is good because the sourness whet your appetite and green tea reduce the sourness. Have you ever eaten them?
