“Ii-mushi” is a traditional dish : steamed rice with some ingredients.
“Ii-mushi” literally means “steamed rice.” Meat and/or vegetables are put on top of a ball of steamed mochi-gome (glutinous rice), and it is steamed in a bamboo food steamer. Ii-mushi is commonly provided at the end of washoku (Japanese dish) full-course dinner. Thick sliced pork back meat with soy sauce and sugar are well cooked, is then laid on the rice ball in the photo above. Soft texture and sweat taste of the pork, and sticky texture of the rice are good combination.
