My husband asked his mother his paternal grandparents' address by E-mail. And she answered his father was in the house. He thought she didn't understand what he said, so he told her to answer the question. Then she said she was out. I didn't know what she meant, but my husband understood. He guessed she wanted to say she didn't know the address because she was out, so he should ask his father in the house.

My husband asked his mother for his paternal grandparents' address by E-mail.
She answered that his father was in the house.
He thought she didn't understand what he said, so he told her to answer the question properly.
Then she said she was currently out of the house.
to be out could = to not want to do something anymore.
He guessed she wanted to say she didn't know the address because she was not at home, so he should ask his father, who is at home.
Yours is grammatically correct, but this is better.
