When I was going to the White Sands National Monument Park in New Mexico, I had to pass a security checkpoint by US army because the national park was located close to US army base. An officer asked me "which coutry did you come from?", I said "I'm from Japan, but I live in California.". I was requested to show him my visa. But I didn't bring it with me because it was a domestic travel. I had to wait for as long as 30 minutes to pass the checkpoint. When I reached another checkpoint, I said that I came from California, and then I was allowed to go without any other question.
