This summer in Helsinki is characterized by the sequence of dry and rainy weather waves. Several weeks ago, after a rainy wave, I found lots of edible mushrooms in a forest nearby. I am fond of mushroom picking and I managed to collect several kilograms shortly. In the end, there were three main species in my bag: penny bun, scaber stalk, and red-capped scaber stalk. Finns do not consider edible the last two which really mitigates the process. They do not collect them; therefore there are plenty of fully developed fruit bodies along forest paths popular for walking. In Russia, all these nice mushrooms would have been cleaned out by babushkas. After that rainy wave, a dry wave approached Helsinki, so I was able to dry mushrooms which were not cooked immediately after the picking.
