I have already took two sets of quizzes and I got perfect, but I am still confused.

●A PAST WISH ABOUT AN EARLIER EVENT
WISHED + PAST PERFECT
My father wished he had gone to college. (I regret he didn't.)

I understood.

●A PAST WISH ABOUT AN PAST EVENT
*My father wished (that) I went to college
*yellow highlighted text is an example of incorrect usage
Use "had gone" or "would go".

I understood.

●A PAST WISH ABOUT A FUTURE EVENT
WISHED WOULD + VERB ( Action may or may not happen.)
My father wished (that) I would go to graduate school.

I understood.

●A PRESENT WISH ABOUT AN EARLIER EVENT
☆WISH + PAST PERFECT
I wish father had understood my appreciation.(I regret he didn't.)

I did.

●A PRESENT WISH ABOUT A PRESENT EVENT
☆WISH + PAST
I wish my son understood hIs grandfather's efforts. (He doesn't.)

I got it.

●A PRESENT WISH ABOUT A FUTURE EVENT(←includes present event?)
☆WOULD + VERB ( Action may or may not happen.)
I wish my son would understand the importance of hard work.

Here is my question.

Then,
●I wish the rain would stop for a moment.

Does this line mean and require that the rain stop NOW or NEAR FUTURE?
Can I say;

'I wish the rain would stop for a moment NOW.' (I guess I can't.)

or

'I wish the rain STOPPED for a moment NOW.',

'I wish the rain STOPPED for a moment' ?

I found a line reading 'If we were not moving out of state he WOULD take a job out of state NOW.'

From this line, I guess I could say 'WOULD DO' can include (imaginary) present.

Thank you for your reading!
